When tired after a long day or a lack of sleep, you will often see the skin becomes pale, appeared a kind bags under the eyes, dark circles around the eyes or wrinkles. You may be wondering, why this could happen.
According to Dr. Amit Sood, a professor of medicine and chairman of Body Mind Initiative of the Mayo Clinic, stress causes the skin's ability to protect itself down. Moreover, stress can also result in reduced levels of melanin so your face will look dull and yellowish.
"In other words, when subjected to stress, the body will be at war with itself. You will lose the efficiency of the body, you will not sleep well, so you eat more than usual, including your weight will increase, even your relationships can be affected thereby, "added Sood who is also the author of the book Train Your Brain, Engage Your Heart, Transform Your Life: A Course in Attention and Interpretation Therapy.
Responding to the study Sood, an expert in anesthesia and pathology Dr. Michael Roizen, too, adding, "Normally, when you sleep will distribute water in the body. That's why if you lack sleep then the water will accumulate under the eyes and gave the 'load' extras on the skin of eye bags and dark circles around the eyes. "
It also means that if a person does not get adequate hours of sleep, the skin does not have a chance to freshen up and re-tightened condition.
Roizen also agreed with Sood that stress will cause lack of sleep and this could be a 'vicious circle'. Even stress not only makes you a weird face but also wrinkling of skin aging. "Stress makes you grow old," said Roizen nbcnews as quoted on Friday (12/21/2013).
In fact according to Roizen, stress not only causes wrinkles or wrinkles on the face but also in the blood vessels which at times can cause serious illness, even if you are very young age.
